Safety system - The latest science and technology of world standard

   For the purpose of helping driver and passengers fully enjoy the pleasure in travel, the ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) with EBD* (Electronic Brake force Distribution) has been adopted for the active safety of the VIOS. Based on the anti-lock brake function of the ABS, the EBD is capable of properly distributing the brake force on front and rear wheels in accordance with running state of the car, which ensure effective braking performance even in the case of heavy load. In the event of engaging brake on curve roads, the brake force applied to left and right wheels can also be distributed effectively to ensure the car stability.

In the field of passenger car passivity safety, the VIOS adopts pre-tensioning & force-limiting safety belt. When detecting the forceful crash from frontage, the pre- tensioner auto furls and locks safety belt instantly so as to secure the occupant bodies effectively; the load limiter can avoid excessive load born by safety belt and ease the impact against chests. In addition, the double-SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) air bags are designed to help reduce the risk or severity of injury to the driver and passenger's chests and heads . The safety design of the VIOS also includes striking force absorbing brake pedal, which may reduce the possible injury caused by strike to the feet of driver.

  The safe car body of GOA (Global Outstanding Assessment), meeting safety standards, was researched and developed independently by TOYOTA according to basic safety standards of most countries in the world and combining with actual automobile accidents occurring situations, which is solely owned by TOYOTA . In the event of automobile bump, the energy-absorbing car body and high-strength driver cabin are capable of absorbing collision energy and scattering it onto different body skeletons as well as minimizing deformation of driver cabin to assure cabin spaces.
