Foreword

¡¡¡¡July 15, 2003 was Decoration Day of the fiftieth anniversary of foundation of the First Automotive Manufacturing Plant and also the fiftieth birthday of China¡¯s automobile industry.

¡¡¡¡It was fifteen years ago today, when the white-jade foundation stone on which Chinaman-Mao Zedong wrote epigraph was embedded in this hot ground, China¡¯s Automobile Industry went into her sustainable development stage. Upon this, the PRC possessed her own first automobile.

¡¡¡¡FAW is an enterprise with fifty-year glorious history, who is like a resolute man, experiencing and suffering hardship and struggling to advance, carrying heavy burden of PRC and showing her extraordinary demeanour.

¡¡¡¡FAW is an enterprise brave in pioneering and innovating. Born in business creation age of PRC when full-scale construction is under way, she realized the breakthrough of China automotive industry from nothing to something, and used to be enveloped by a ring of light as model of planned economy. Challenged by market economy, they raised the flag of study, innovation, struggle and self-strengthening, treats concept as productive force and competitive power, be determined and dauntless to reform and market-oriented, adjusts product structure, improve comprehensive quality, devotes herself into greater international competitiveness, shines with vigorous vitality and developed a new development stage for old state-owned enterprise.

¡¡¡¡The grand goal of ¡°China's Overall construction of well-being society¡± proposed in the¡°16th National Congress of Communist Party of China (16th NCCPC)¡± offered an unheardof good prospect for the development of FAW and even China¡¯s automobile industry. To build the new FAW characterized by ¡°Millionaired scale, digitized management and internationalized operation¡± has become new mission for people of FAW and domestic fellow traders. We have reasons to believe that FAW will surely create a new wonder in its own development history.

¡¡¡¡The history of FAW is precious, which represents semicentennial development course of China¡¯s automobile industry. At the time of 50th anniversary of building plant of FAW, looking back her development footprint is to let history tell the future and make the future become more splendid and brilliant.
