On Dec. 5th 2004, the long-distance running relay race team of TFTM including 16 persons, led by the chairman of the labor union Li Wei, arrived in Nagoya city by plane, spending nearly 3 hours.
In the early morning next day, it took everybody one hour to came to the TOYOTA sports center by bus. The whole things looked that fresh and the most intuitionistic feeling was pure, fresh and natural as well as full of vitally when everybody firstly walked into the TOYOTA sports center. Not had walked into the main playing area yet, we had been influenced by the sounds around our ears which were pulsatile musical notes, were enthusiastic whoops, and were even more sweats.
The minister, Zhen Gong and chief manager, Yu Zhizhu as well as the volunteers from Yuanding plant, having waited on the playing area for long, introduced the match to us as reminded our contestants to push warm-up along. Having tentatively run along the race track for two rounds, everybody found that there were many rough parts of the track and it turned upslope and downslope time to time, which brought some troubles to our contestants. Looking around other teams and the racers were tentatively running and the cheering squads were trying their lungs as well as the dance teams were practicing the hard team gymnastics. The actively and upward view of a hubbub of voices was indeed affecting.
After the tentative runs were finished at noon when it was little rain, the personnel of every team gradually went away. The five teams came from abroad (including TFTM team and Australian team) assembled on the stand for inter-introduction and inter-greeting. The atmosphere became harmonious all at once and everybody became friends with each other off the game, though they were competitors of each other. Please remember their names Yu Xiyuan, Zhang Zengjun, Yu Wei, He Zhiqin and Zhai Liquan, because new history will be created by them.
At 6：30 a.m. on 7th December, we came to the Toyota Sports Center accompanied by Nagoya’s twilight sky after raining. You could feel the exciting and fantastic on-site atmosphere before entering into playing area; you could hear the acute rataplan and resounding hubbub and saw flags with flying colors. This was a scene of bustling and dynamic activity in deed. TFTM employees who studied in Japan came here to cheer for us when everybody was busy in warming up and making pre-match preparation; this increased our sense of host stadium and confidence in victory. Here, there was a people walking to us, it was executive director of Japan Toyota- Zhang Nan, who came here to cheer for us purposely and who also took a group photo with us, all these inspired us deeply.
At 9:00, countless color balls were flying into sky, the opening ceremony was a grand opening. The five overseas teams including Tianjin FAW Toyota team set foot in the Central Stadium for the first time. At this point the audience burst into warm applause, if you are live in the scene sure to be moved by such a warm atmosphere. After all, Tianjin FAW Toyota stand on the green lawn for the first time, after all, Tianjin FAW demonstrated our presence to the world of Toyota for the first time. First, the last championship banner was returned to the General Assembly; Then, five athletes approached and take oath on behalf of participants. Which include He Zhiqing from TFTM.LllLListen, his voice is clear and strong and very impressive. Then in the cheers of the audience, in all participants’ eyes, a symbol of everlasting spirit of Toyota, Energy- endless campaign torch from three contestants to hold high the around the stadium and eventually sent to the torch in front of the stage, ignited by the representative of athletes.At this point, the whole stadium was boiling; everyone was like staying in the Olympic sacred halls.
At 9:40, the match began officially, nearly 300 athletes, like galloping arrows, braced themselves up to be the first.From the first baton, our team members were at a disadvantaged position.Firstly, the starting runners were surrounded by the crowd; Secondly, the local terrain is mainly characterized by rough roads, sometimes downhill and sometimes upgrade, in the team members’ peacetime training, undulating road training was lack; Furthermore, this was the first time for us to take part in the like match and have no enough experience, so we run behind first 100 for a time.In the following match, it was from the 2nd to the 7th batons, each team will exert all efforts to face difficulties and challenge with setting our teeth, improving to take about 100th place one time. Here, the team of general assembly department of Gaogang Plant had been already way ahead of the other teams participating.
The severest 8th baton began, the match became white heat. All teams struggled to take better places. We still took the 116th place till the 7th baton so it was difficult to enter into top 100, while the team member shouldering the important task of 8th baton quicken his pace to catch up with the others after receiving the relay ribbon, catching up with one more athletes at amazing speed, all audience on-site were stunned. Here, TFTM working personnel and rooters standing at the final destination were waiting for sprinting of our good athletes absorbedly. Look, the champion team was running through the final destination, representative teams completed match another and yet another, where were our team members? We saw them running here. We run through the final destination, strong applause arising, as if the time was fixed at this moment. How about our performance? Everybody was calculated upon the announcement of final results. The result was announced finally, we took the 96th place only.
The teamwork spirit and entrepreneurial spirit as well persistent spirit of our team showed in the firstly taking part in the match represent the spirits of people of TFTM. We will make good preparation for taking a better place in the next match, this is our aim.
